Core elements of our strategy

Treasured Memories strive to supply our products and services in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

As we grow our business, we are conscious of the environmental impact our products may have on our environment. We constantly look for ways to be more efficient and save energy. One of the easiest and most effective ways of keeping our carbon down is to deal with like-minded companies who share our vision. All of our business partners have comprehensive environmental statements and goals.

Apart from constantly looking for ways to save the energy within the business, we are also looking at ways we can offset any carbon we create. For example, we are currently looking into setting up a tree-planting programme and are in talks with some charities on this point. We will keep you updated as we progress.

We will also incorporate some products for sale through our sites that will be environmentally friendly and carbon negative. We encourage our customers to be part of this and will, in time, offer a donation button on the site allowing our clients to donate to offset the carbon emission caused by the production of their product.

Papers and boards

99% of our products are made from Paper and Board, all of which carry the FSC certification. The FSC's stated mission is to "promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests" To this end, the body has published a global strategy.

  • Advancing globally responsible forest management.
  • Ensure equitable access to the benefits of FSC systems.
  • Ensure integrity, credibility and transparency of the FSC system.
  • Create business value for products from FSC certified forests.

These goals are supposedly promoted by activities managed and developed through six program areas: forests, the chain of custody, social policy, monitoring and evaluation, quality assurance and ecosystem services. It claims that forests managed to its standards offer benefits to local and broader communities. These are said to include cleaner air and water and contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change.

Directly or indirectly, FSC addresses illegal logging, deforestation, and global warming. Some reports indicate positive effects on economic development, environmental conservation, poverty alleviation, and social and political empowerment.

Our print technology is designed to go to sleep when not in use and uses the minimum amount of power. Although we strive to cut down on waste, we will always have offcuts of Paper and board. This is processed through recycling, and nothing goes into general waste and is all recyclable.

Laminate

Although laminate is not very environmentally friendly, it offers a level of longevity to printed products. However, we give our customers a choice to either have their memorial cards laminated or not.

Printing Equipment

Our printed products are digitally printed using Xerox Vesant 180 PRO digital print technology. Many Xerox products meet or exceed the requirements of the world's most widely-recognised certifications for product environmental performance — the international ENERGY STAR, EPEAT and Germany's Blue Angel. Xerox's eco-label products provide ecological benefits without compromising performance, quality or reliability. And the energy- and paper-saving features of these machines bring value, efficiency and flexibility to your work environment. You can view the Xerox Environmental product list here and relevant certifications.

Ink Cartridge recycling

Our digital print technology uses Toner technology as opposed to inks. Our toners are supplied directly from Xerox and are Xerox branded. All of our spent cartridges are sent back to Xerox for recycling using the Green World Alliance Program®.

Transport and delivery

We use various distribution companies to deliver your orders: An Post, DPD and DHL. These companies have an efficient way of collecting and distributing goods around the world to minimise the costs involved to offer a cheap and efficient service.
